My Netflix Winter Plans

Hello everyone. I hope all is well with you. I thought I’d do a fun post today since I haven’t done one in a while.  I’ve been in my writing cave this week and I’m making some real progress on my latest manuscript. So my brain needs some fun and entertainment.

The weather has turned cold and rainy here and it looks like winter is on the horizon. Since I’m an INFJ and we love our alone time, winter is a great time for us to hibernate and get in touch with our inner selves. It’s also a great time to   BINGE WATCH some Netflix and eat tons of popcorn. That’s right, I love popcorn with lots of butter. Don’t judge me. 😉

There are some great shows I’ve got my eye on and I thought I’d share them with you. Just in case you find yourself all bundled up on the couch during a blustery storm.

The first one we’re going to start this weekend. It’s “Stranger Things” and it has something for the whole family. Even my boys got into this one.

The next one is “Mind Hunter.”  I have to confess hubby and I binge watched this one in one weekend it was that good. I love it because it’s great fodder for antagonists if you’re looking for ideas. We’re hoping season two isn’t too far away.

Next on our list is “Wanted.”  If you watched and liked the movie “Thelma and Louise,” you’ll like this show. It’s a story about two unlikely women and how they get thrown into a situation and how they outsmart everyone who’s trying to capture them. It’s a great show.

If you’re looking for a great thriller series. You need to check out “Ozark.” I have to confess hubby and I already binge watched this one and it was awesome. We can’t wait for season two.

Another great series is “This is Us.” If you love family drama stories then this show is for you.

We’re also going to be binge watching the second season of “True Detective.” I heard it wasn’t as good as the first season, but I’m reserving judgement until I see it. I love my detective stories. 😉

When I need a bit of nostalgia I always fall back on my all-time go to show. “Special Victims Unit.”  I’ve been binge watching this show since it came out. 🙂

We’re waiting for new seasons on a couple of shows. One of them is “Homeland.” Hubby really gets into that one and it is interesting but not my favorite.

We also enjoy “The Americans.” It’s a great series about Russian spies in America.

Last but not least is one we watched a long time ago and we’re hoping to get back to it. This one is dark. It’s called “The Following.” It’s about a serial killer with a fan club. If you like dark stories, this one’s for you.

So there you have it, some dark and twisty shows for the winter. How about you? Are there any shows you’d like to recommend?  Leave a comment. I’d love to hear from you!

  1. I just binge watched a few movies this weekend… The United Kingdom , The Birth Of A Nation and Fences. All involving racial equality in one form or another !

    1. I saw Fences at the theater. I liked it, although I didn’t like Denzil Washington’s character. He wasn’t a very nice guy! I’ve got the Birth of a Nation on my radar, but I haven’t watched it yet.

      1. I was a bit on the fence with Fences too (excuse the pun!) And Birth of a nation was good… but a tad gory at the end!!!

  2. I don’t have Netflix, but I like to make recommendations to my son (who does). I love Keri Russell (have done since Felicity) so would definitely put The Americans on my list. Have you seen The Wine show with Matthew Rhys? Loved that!

  3. I am also an INFJ, and I am also REALLY looking forward to winter. My beach volleyball league is done for the year, I’m done coaching both of my kids’ soccer teams, and the gardens are all put to bed for the winter. So, lots of time for writing and painting. Lots of down time. I LOVE IT! We love This Is Us too. I haven’t watched any of your other reviews though. I’ll have to check them out. Some of our favorite (not sure if they were Netflix, Amazon Prime or Hulu – ha!) are Once Upon A Time, Nashville (we love music), Man In The High Castle (you must check this one out after seeing the shows you both like), Suits, and Poldark. Enjoy your INFJ time. 🙂

    1. Ahhhh…a fellow INFJ! It’s so good to meet you. I’ve met quite a few via social media. We’re a unique breed that’s for sure. Hubby and I have also watched Suits and it was pretty good. We watched it a while ago. I didn’t think of it when I made this list. My bad. Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll check these other shows out!

      1. I enjoyed it as a show, Sunshine and Mr B loved it for the psychological neuroscience-y stuff in it that parallels what they’re digging into in their free time.

      2. How cool is that? I’ve always been interested in what makes a serial killer a serial killer. This show delves into that. There’s an old movie titled “Copycat” that was really good too. The main character was Sigourney Weaver and she was an expert on serial killers who becomes stalked by one. You might like that one, too and Sunshine and Mr. B. definitely will. 🙂

  4. Great list. We love Stranger Things! I never heard of Mindhunters before. Think I’ll be looking into that one and some of the others, too. Did you know that they canceled The Following? I couldn’t even believe it! Such a great show.

  5. You’re in for a treat with these! There are a few I haven’t watched yet, but I see many of my favorites. In fact, I just said to my husband, “I know i protested when you wanted to watch Ozark, but now that we’re done with it I miss it!” Can’t wait for next season.

  6. We started Ozark, which is insanely intense. Not sure I’ll get through it. Do you watch House of Cards? Thet has Jumped the Shark in turbid waters. Can’t wait for Stranger Things!

  7. we watched the first two seasons of The Following and really liked it, then gave up about 1/2 way through season 3 when our DVR kicked the bucket. Been debating about whether or not to go back to it, but I’m so far behind on everything else now i don’t think it will ever happen

    1. I hear you! There are plenty of other good shows to start if you don’t want to go back to that one. 🙂 Ozark was one of my faves and I can’t wait for season 2!

    1. I started Narcos a while back but got waylaid by something else. You know how it is. Sometimes there’s too many choices! LOL! Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have to give Narcos another try.

  8. I seldom watch. I recommend to watch ‘Silent Voice’. At first, I was attracted with its title. Thus, I rush for the movie. It is so different from my assumption. I thought it is about the silent voice from within. However, it turns out about the bullying that a deaf girl endured during her school days. However, the bullier received it back from his peers. I like the scene where the bullier and bullied parties become friends.
